Reduce the Florida Gas Tax

Tell the Governor: Florida families need relief at the pump.

THE PETITION

We, the undersigned citizens of Florida, respectfully petition Governor DeSantis to support a temporary reduction of the Florida state gas tax to ease the financial pressure on working families and keep Florida affordable.

Floridians depend on their vehicles to get to work, take children to school, care for aging parents, and run small businesses. For millions of families, the cost at the pump is not a luxury expense. It is a fixed cost that rises faster than paychecks. When fuel prices climb, so do the prices of groceries, deliveries, construction, and nearly everything else that moves by truck.

Florida has shown before that temporary fuel tax relief can help. We believe it is time to act again.

We respectfully ask that you:

1Support a temporary suspension or reduction of the state gas tax for a defined period of 6 months.
2Work with the Florida Legislature, including calling a special session if necessary, to pass the relief promptly.
3Ensure the relief is passed on to consumers at the pump, with transparency about the savings.
4Protect critical road and infrastructure funding through existing surplus revenue so that relief does not come at the expense of public safety.

Florida’s strength has always been its promise of opportunity and affordability. A temporary reduction in the gas tax is a practical, immediate way to keep that promise to the families who work hard and drive our economy every day.
